Herman E. Sergent , 89, passed away on August 15, 2018 at home in Jacksonville, FL. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Georgetta, his daughter Linda Felt (Leland) of Doylestown, PA, his son Rod (Jamille) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. His grandchildren include Clint Dolby (Janeen )of Houston, TX., Melissa Hall (Matthew) of Bloominton, IN and Jonathan Sergent of Menlo Park, CA. He had four great-grandchildren: Sam Hall, Lillian Hall, Chloe Dolby and Paige Dolby. He is also survived by his brother, Rev. Dr. Joe D. Sergent (Deloris) of Shrewsbury, PA.
Mr. Sergent was born to the late John D. Sergent and Pearl M. Caudill Sergent in Whitesburg, KY. After graduating from Whitesburg High School, he went to Photography school when he moved to the south side of Dayton, OH and then went to work for Mound Laboratory, a Monsanto facility contracted with the Atomic Energy Commission. A few months later he brought his bride, Georgetta, to join him in Ohio. He specialized in Photography, Printing and Graphic Arts and retired from Monsanto after 38 years.
A Visitation for September 8, 2018 at 10 am, at Central Presbyterian Church, 4699 Lamb Road, Dayton, OH, immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 11 am. His life can be honored by making donations to the Honors College, Purdue University Development Office, Dauch Alumni Center, 403 West Wood Street, West Lafayette, IN 47907-2007.
