John A. Cook passed away May 22, 2020, at the age of 93. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Ruby F. (Shipley); daughters, Caren L. McKinney, Rebecca S. Allen, Deborah G. Goode, and Judith E. LeBlanc.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Vern Cook and Esther Mae (Stern); siblings, Fairy Miller, Joseph Cook, Jess Cook, Harold Cook, Judy Keller; and daughter, Sandra A. Mundy,
Mr. Cook enlisted in the Army during WWII, and was a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne. Upon discharge he obtained his private pilot’s license via the GI Bill. He resumed employment at Delco Remy in Anderson, Indiana, and retired in 1978.
He and his wife relocated to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, where they built their dream home, a log cabin in the woods.
During his lifetime he actively pursued several interests which included flying, traveling, gardening, and spoiling his daughters.
He will be remembered for his love of God and Country, and the belief that a firm handshake was a sign of honor.
