Angela Elliott Vazquez Kees of Jacksonville Beach, FL, died on October 14, 2023, of pulmonary complications. She was 80.
Mrs. Kees was born in 1943 to Maxwell and Betty Elliott in Washington, DC. She grew up in Vienna, VA. Following graduation from San Diego State University, she worked as a social worker for Big Brothers and Big Sisters in San Diego. In 1964, she married Frank Xavier Vazquez, who later became an officer in the United States Navy. She bore and raised two children. In 1980, they moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, where she began a career as the Director of Catering for the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club and The Lodge. She was divorced in 1990. In 2006, she married Charles Kees and lived in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. In 2007, she retired as Director of Catering from the Sawgrass Country Club.
She is survived by her sisters, Marin Mash and Norah Crawford; daughter, Leslie Vazquez Anderson; son, Bradley Lincoln Todd Vazquez; four grandchildren, Camden Riley Anderson, Knowlton Cain Christian Anderson, Wyatt Alexander Vazquez, and Celia Anne Vazquez.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 21, at the Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home & Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to the American Heart Association.
