Anne Finegan Rollings was born in Richmond, VA, February 20, 1937, to John and Eleanor Finegan. She grew up in Hickory, NC, and graduated from Hickory High School in 1955 and then Duke University in 1959. Anne met the love of her life, Douglas Rollings, in the fall of 1961 and they were married four months later. Anne and Doug would have three children in the next four years and spend their marriage traveling with Doug’s career as a Navy pilot. Anne was a devoted wife, mother, and Nee Nee who dedicated her life to her family. For the 15 years before she became ill, she had a passion for rescuing senior dogs, giving them the love and grace they deserved to the ends of their lives. She was smart, funny, selfless and generous with her time and her talents. She would drop whatever she was doing to help anyone who needed it. She was a beautiful soul and we’re grateful for the time we were able to share with her on this earth. It’s also comforting to know that she lived her life guided by the love she had for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She’s dancing in Heaven with her beloved Douglas, and we cannot wait to see her again, whole and happy.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eleanor Finegan; brother, Jack Finegan (Paula); and her husband, Doug Rollings. She is survived by her sister, Pat Houk (Earl); children, Liz, Larry (Doreene) and Greg (Krissie); grandchildren, Chris (Emily), Sydney, Nathan, Jack, Riley, Ellie and William; and great-grandchildren, Landon, Charlotte and Miles.
