Barbara Schaum

1938 - 2023

Barbara Ann Schaum, age 85, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on December 6, 2023. She was born on May 7, 1938, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Marie Motin Whitehill and Irvin Whitehill. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Reverend Charles Schaum.

Barbara obtained a master's of science education and was an educator in the Newburgh, NY school system for thirty years, focusing on those with special needs. She dedicated her career to making a positive impact on the lives of her students.

Barbara is survived by her loving children: Jeffrey (Gigi), Julia (Tom), and John (Lynda). She was a devoted grandmother to Alexandria, Chase, Jessica, Bradley, and two great-grandsons, Jamel and Nikolai. She is also survived by extended family and cherished friends.

In her free time, Barbara pursued various hobbies and interests. She was a world traveler, an award-winning quilter, and a talented photographer. Barbara also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, attending the symphony, and the theater. She cherished her time playing mahjong with her friends.

Barbara was an active member of Redeemer Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Her faith was an important aspect of her life.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16th, at 10 AM at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer on Southside Blvd. in Jacksonville, Florida. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Ponte Vedra Valley in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Barbara Ann Schaum will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
