Bernard Poskonka, 75, left this life on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, at Baptist South Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL from complications of pneumonia.

Bernie was was the beloved son of (the late) Joseph Poskonka and Antoinette Poskonka-Marmar, born on September 1st, 1947, in Toledo, OH. He graduated from Whitmer High School in 1965 and later graduated from Ohio Northern Technical College.  He spent his professional career as a sales engineer in the automotive industry.

Bernie enjoyed traveling, taking family vacations, trying new restaurants, and making people laugh. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife; daughters; son-in-law; grandchildren; friend, Brian Beckmann; and his treasured dog, Buddy. He was a dedicated family man and will be remembered for his quick wit and fantastic sense of humor.

We’d like to thank Community Hospice who allowed us to surround Bernie with love and affection as he entered God’s glorious kingdom. He died peacefully, surrounded by the three women he loved the most, his wife and daughters.  Words can’t describe the immense heartache we feel having lost this very special man.  We will always remember his never-ending courage and strength.

Bernie is survived by his high school sweetheart, loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Sally (Derbeck) Poskonka. They were married on October 26th, 1968, in Toledo, OH. He is also survived by daughters, Kristin (Michael) Hensler of Cleves, OH and Kari Wolfe of St. Augustine, FL. He is the adored and cherished Papa of Madelyn Hensler and Jackson and Sam Wolfe; dear brother of Joe (Kathy) Poskonka, Rosemary (Ken) Galdys, Ray (Sherri Ahrens) Poskonka and Ruth (Dennis) Gwynne. Bernie also leaves to cherish his memory, sister and brother in-law, Kathy and Craig Clark, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his brother Tom (Mary) Poskonka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 26th at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra, FL. Additionally, a Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date in Cincinnati, OH.
