Bradley S. Shannon left to be with the Lord on December 9, 2022. Bradley was born in Richland, Washington, to his parents, Richard and Karen Shannon in November 1960. He was a gifted student, a loyal friend, and a great big brother to his sister, Kelli. He enjoyed the outdoors including camping with his Boy Scout Troop then transitioning to waterskiing with friends on the Columbia and Snake River after purchasing a boat in high school. That was also when he was introduced to golf which he continued to enjoy with friends throughout his life. He graduated from the University of Washington, Magna Cum Laude with a Business Administration B.A., a Juris Doctorate with honors, and a lasting love of Husky athletics, especially attending football games at home and on the road.
Bradley served as a law clerk for federal judges in the Eastern District of Washington for several years. Before transitioning to an associate position with a law firm in Seattle, he took a temporary position as a Deputy Prosecutor where he met another Deputy Prosecutor, who would eventually become his wife. Bradley proposed to Ann in Husky Stadium after the football spring game, and they were married in September 1994 (during a football bye week). In 1996, Bradley pivoted to teaching and became a law school professor at the University of Idaho. While living in Pullman, Washington, they welcomed their son, Parker, and daughter, Taylor. In 2004, the Shannon family moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, when Bradley took a position as a professor with Florida Coastal School of Law, where for 17 years he enjoyed interacting with students and colleagues while teaching a variety of subjects, and producing numerous scholarly works, and a textbook. He also taught students abroad at the Université Clermont Auvergne, Ecole de Droit in Claremont-Ferrand, France during two separate summer terms.
Bradley’s life was centered on his faith and family. Bradley’s intellectual curiosity initially prompted his participation in a bible study in high school, and as his faith grew it provided the foundation for how he conducted his life. Bradley was a loving, devoted, and engaged husband and parent involved in supporting his children’s pursuit of academics, athletics, scouting, music, dance, and arts, always prioritizing time spent with his family. Bradley was also an intentional friend and overcame time and distance to maintain relationships with friends from childhood, college, and work.
Bradley is survived by Ann, Parker and Taylor; his mother, Karen; sister, Kelli; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. His life will be celebrated at 2pm on Friday, December 16, 2022, during a Funeral Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Ponte Vedra Beach, followed by a private interment at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider “doing a good turn daily.”
