Charith Perera, 58, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on July 8, 2016, while on vacation with his family in the Maldives. He was an adoring husband to his wife, Chinta, and a gentle and loving father to Samantha, Chrisantha, Janaki, Rajiv, and Anita. He will live forever in their memory, and in those of his mother, Shirley Perera; his sister, Preemali; and his brothers, Ravith, Surith, and Vijith. He held a Master of Science in Management from MIT’s Sloan School of Business and a BS in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He founded ShipXpress Inc. and led it as CEO for 16 years, after 17 years at CSX Transportation, where he served as Director of Marketing. He had a rare and truly noble spirit, always generous with his time and knowledge. He was ever-ready with a friendly smile, a kind word, and some sage advice. He saw the potential for greatness in everyone, and inspired all those whose lives he touched to fulfill that promise. He was a successful entrepreneur, visionary innovator, and remarkable leader, but he considered his beautiful family his greatest achievement. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Honor of Charith Perera to MIT Sloan Fund Class of ‘83'. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 23rd at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 435 1st Ave N, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.  Services under the care of Ponte Vedra Valley, 904-285-1130.
