Charles is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lea Stanton and their 5 sons: Gary (Eileen) of Kansas, Tom (Joana) of Colorado, Brian (Laurie) of Florida, Craig (Denny) of Georgia, and William (Shelly) of Michigan along with grandchildren Tesha (Mike) Merlino, Kailey, Taylor, Nicole, Shannon, Mary, Griffin, James, Sophia, Jack, and Anna, and great grandchildren Weston, Brayden, and Addison.

Charles was a dedicated educator, principal and coach in Dearborn, Michigan. He was born in San Diego, CA, and grew up in Yakima, WA, and Lansing, MI. He was an exceptional athlete and excelled in football and track. While attending Albion College in Michigan on an athletic scholarship, he met the love of his life, Lea Stanton.

After serving in the Army during the Korean War, Charles returned from Germany and settled with his family in Dearborn, Michigan. Charles and Lea enjoyed vacationing in Palmer Lake, Colorado and eventually retired to Estes Park, Colorado. Charles spent his later years in Florida.

Charles loved and enjoyed nature. Charles was a gifted wood carver and artisan.  Charles was always ready to roll up his sleeves to help out a family member or neighbor with a project.
