Christian Connor Meier, age 17, died on July 6, 2016. He was born September 1, 1998, to Margaret Pauzer Meier and Walter Gustav Meier, III. A rising senior at Nease High School, Christian was a leader in the Nease Navy JROTC program and a member of the varsity drill team’s nationally ranked Color Guard. He was selected to attend the NJROTC Leadership Academy and won awards in the school district’s Character Counts program as well as the Nease NJROTC program – Sailor of the Quarter, American Vets Award, etc. He was a National Honor Society member and on the varsity track and cross-country teams. Christian loved to fly, was an avid reader and had aspirations of attending college on an ROTC scholarship to become a Navy pilot. Christian was known for his warm smile, sense of duty, great humor and generous heart. He is survived by his parents; his three sisters, Claire Rose, Mary Kate and Laura Elizabeth; two brothers, Sean Thomas and Patrick Ryan; his grandmother, Mary Pauzer; his Godparents, John and Carol Meier and Janet DeVos. He was treasured and is mourned by his aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, friends, teachers and classmates, as well as co-workers at Publix and ValuTeachers. There will be a visitation at Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home, 4750 Palm Valley Rd, Ponte Vedra Beach, on Sunday, July 10 from 5 – 7 pm and a funeral mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Monday, July 11 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to the Nease NJROTC program or Art with a Heart in Healthcare at Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital – a program of comfort and relief for seriously ill children.
