Christy Bramblett Slater, 61, peacefully passed away in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, July 15, 2024.

Christy was born on January 9th, 1963 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to Robert and Bobbie Bramblett. Christy graduated from Florida State University where she received her B.A. in Early Childhood Education and from the University of North Florida where she received her Masters in Education. A passionate educator, she worked for 28 years in the Duval and St. Johns County Public School Systems as a Kindergarten Teacher and Assistant Principal. Prior to her retirement, she served as the Director of Training and Quality Assurance at The Florida School for The Deaf and The Blind.

Christy enjoyed spending time with friends, playing scrabble, reading, and walking her French Bulldog, Luna. She had unwavering faith in God and was a beacon of light to all of those around her. She was blessed with a large community of close family and friends who brought her great joy and comfort.

A loving and devoted daughter, sister, and mother, Christy is survived by her children Brooks and Amanda Slater; mother Bobbie Bramblett; sister Susie Lange, her husband Jeffrey, and niece Sienna Lange; as well as several Bramblett family cousins and Slater family in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Christy was preceded by her father, Robert Bramblett.

A service will be held to honor Christy’s life at 2pm on Thursday, August 8th in the sanctuary at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. A reception will follow in the Dining Room at Christ Church.

The Slater family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at The Mayo Clinic’s Robert and Monica Jacoby Center for Breast Health for their diligent and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to Christ Episcopal Church.
