SPEZIALE Craig Speziale, 51, passed away April 19, 2014. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 21, 1962. Craig grew up in North Miami Beach, graduated from and began his teaching career at North Miami Beach Senior High. He received his bachelors from USF, masters from Barry University and attended the Harvard Principals' Institute. Before coming to Ponte Vedra, he worked in Miami Dade County Public Schools for 22 years as a teacher, Assistant Principal at Carol City, Interim Principal at American High, Principal at South Miami and Jackson High Schools. He came to Ponte Vedra 7 years ago as the founding Principal of Ponte Vedra High and was named St. Johns County District Principal of the Year in 2014. Although he loved golf and traveling with his family, Craig's joy was children, his own and others. He saw potential in all children, and worked hard to help them achieve to their highest ability. He was always able to find that diamond in the rough. Craig is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Ana; children, Leia and Dawson; mother, Patricia Dawson; brothers, Curtis Speziale (Lori) and Glen Dawson, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, at Ponte Vedra Valley. A Mass will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, April 23, at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church.
