On Monday, July 1, 2019, Dalisay Saenz Olaes, loving wife, mother of two children, and “lola” to three grandchildren, passed away at age 73. She is one of four children, born to Dominador and Encarnita Olaes in Naic, Cavite City, Philippines on March 26, 1946. She was married for 49 years to her beloved husband, Renato “Rene”, enjoying their retirement years together dancing.
She is survived by her husband, Renato; daughter, Arlene; son, Roderick; son-in-law, Maurice; daughter-in-law, Digna; three grandchildren, Alexa, Dominic, and Annalise.
Dalisay received a bachelor’s degree from the University of the East in Business Administration in 1968. She worked in Civil Service for 26 years in Washington, D.C., and was a survivor on the attack of 9/11 at the Pentagon, in which she was awarded the Defense of Freedom Medal.
She was known to all her friends and loved ones as “Day.” Day had a passion for dancing. She also loved art, making her costumes for different dance events, painting, and jewelry making. The biggest adventure in her life was cruising and entertaining. The greatest pride and joy in her life was watching her grandchildren grow. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile, kind heart, and compassionate spirit.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019, 11 am at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 127 Stone Mason Way, Ponte Vedra, FL, 32081.
