Daniel Benjamin Winer, 31, beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend departed from this life unexpectedly on October 2nd, 2026. He is survived by his parents, Scott and Kelly Winer (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.), sister, Rachel Winer (McLean, Va.), and dog Bernie; grandparents, Peg Myers (Barberton, Ohio) and Steve Winer (Fairlawn, Ohio); many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family; and a close-knit group of longtime friends.

Daniel was born on June 5,1995 in Memphis, Tennessee and, as soon as he could walk, developed a proclivity for golf. After watching Tiger Woods win the 1997 Masters, Daniel started picking up a club and “whacking it” in the front yard. His love for sports, especially golf, was strengthened when the family moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. in 2004. He loved growing up at TPC Sawgrass, the home of The Players, and spent many weekends being shuttled by his mom across town to compete in local tournaments or play in friendly competitions with his dad and their golf group.  To celebrate his 30th birthday, Daniel, his dad Scott and their golf group took a bucket list trip to Scotland and finished at the Old Course. That trip was a dream come true for Daniel.

His final round of golf was at The Stadium course in July; he shot a 79, besting the group one last time.

To his friends and family, he was known as a silly, happy, creative young boy who grew into a kind, brilliant, hard-working man. One of his most defining traits was his lifelong thirst for knowledge. As a teenager, he spent time outside of school teaching himself physics and calculus out of pure interest. On the family’s summer road trips and during many travels abroad, he reliably researched each destination’s culture, history, and cuisine, and always surprised us with fascinating facts and trivia that would make our trips more meaningful.

His contemplative nature, big grin, and loving energy will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

A service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, October 9th at the Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home, 4750 Palm Valley Rd, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla 32082. Calling hours/reception from 4:00-6:00PM with memorial starting at 5:30.

Dress code: “Daniel style” in honor of his love for hoodies, shorts, and flip flops.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to SAFE Pet Rescue in memory of Daniel.

May his memory be a blessing.

Livestreaming will begin approximately ten minutes before the start ofthe service directly below the obituary.
