DAVID ALBERT MARTEL, WAS BORN TO LIONEL AND ANNA ALICE MARTEL ON 2/26/1948.

HE WAS THEIR THIRD CHILD, HIS OLDER SIBLINGS BEING ELAINE PLAWECKI AND RICHARD MARTEL.

DAVID WAS RAISED IN BRISTOL, CT.  DAVID ENJOYED HIS CHILDHOOD PLAYING YOUTH SPORTS, AND THEN HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL.  HE WAS A STORY TELLER, OFTEN REFLECTING UPON HIS CAREFREE YEARS AS A CHILD AND A TEENAGER, AS WELL AS HIS ENJOYMENT AND MANY SUCCESSES IN YOUTH SPORTS AND HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL.  HE WAS CAPTAIN OF THE FOOTBALL TEAM AT BRISTOL HIGH, AND GRADUATED IN 1966.

DAVID THEN WENT ON TO C.W. POST COLLEGE ON LONG ISLAND, NY. HE WAS A RESIDENT ADVISOR, AND WAS ACTIVE IN A FRATERNITY.  THIS EXPERIENCE BROUGHT SO MANY GOOD MEMORIES TO HIM, ESPECIALLY SHAKING HANDS WITH LYNDON B. JOHNSON, POTUS, WHEN MRS. POST TOOK THE FRATERNITY ON A TRIP TO WASHINGTON, D.C.

AFTER COLLEGE, DAVID EMBARKED IN A CAREER IN MARKETING AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT; EMPLOYED BY SEARS, SOUTHLAND CORPORATION, AND CIGNA. HE LATER OPENED HIS PRIVATE CONSULTING BUSINESS AS A WORLDCLASS MARKETING AND SALES CONSULTANT AND TRAINER.  HE ACHIEVED A GREAT SUCCESS WITH HIS OWN COMPANY, HAVING WORKED WITH SEVERAL NATIONAL COMPANIES TO TRAIN AND DEVELOP THEIR SALES AND MARKEING STAFF.  HE WAS VERY DEVOTED TO HIS WORK, AND BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH HIS CLIENTS AND COLLEAGUES WHO TRUSTED HIS EXPERTISE AND ADVISEMENTS FOR MANY YEARS.

DAVID EXCELLED AS HUSBAND TO ANN MARIE MARTEL, NEE PAOLINO, ALSO FROM CONNECTICUT.  THEY WERE MARRIED FOR 34 YEARS.  HE WAS A DEVOTED AND CARING HUSBAND, ALWAYS SUPPORTIVE OF HIS WIFE’S WISHES AND PERSONAL GOALS.  THEY PARTNERED ON ALL THEIR ENDEAVORS, INCLUDING CAREER PATHS, THEIR RETIREMENT PLANNING, AND THEY WORKED OUT ALL LIFE PROBLEMS TOGETHER. THEY ENJOYED DANCING, BOATING, THEIR TWO DOGS OVER SEVERAL YEARS, AND THEIR HOMES IN CT, SC AND LASTLY IN FLORIDA.

DAVID SERVED IN THE MILITARY FOR A SHORT TIME, BUT HIS TOUGHEST BATTLES INCLUDED CARDIAC DISEASE AND TWO MAJOR CANCERS. HE FOUGHT THESE ILLNESSES UNTIL IT WAS TIME TO SURRENDER AND GO WITH GOD AND AN ETERNAL LIFE ON 12/29/21.

DAVID LEAVES MANY LOVING FAMILY MEMBERS AND SEVERAL WONDERFUL FRIENDS WHO KEPT IN TOUCH WITH HIM THROUGHOUT HIS ILLNESS TO HIS LAST FEW DAYS OF LIFE.  HE LEAVES BEHIND HIS WIFE, ANNMARIE MARTEL, HIS DAUGHTER, MORGAN MARTEL TANGUAY, HIS GRAND-DAUGHTER ALEXANDRA TANGUAY, HIS SISTER ELAINE PLAWECKI AND HER HUSBAND EDWARD, HIS BROTHER RICHARD MARTEL, AND HIS WIFE KATHY, FOUR NEICES, AND ALL THE MANY LOVING AND CARING COUSINS OF HIS WIFE WHO KEPT IN TOUCH WITH HIM FAITHFULLY AND REGULARLY.
