David Jay Milleman, 75, died peacefully on March 4, 2023 after a long battle with cancer at his home in Jacksonville, Florida under care of Hospice. Dave was born in Butler, PA on September 25, 1947, the second of four children to Robert S. Milleman, Sr and Bernice Carr (nee) Milleman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Zoe Ann; his children, Scott of Clearwater, FL, Todd of Clearwater, FL, David Jay, Jr of Denver, CO, Daniel Durand of Asheville, NC, and Stephanie Durand of Tega Cay, SC; as well as six grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother, Robert S. Milleman, Jr of Largo, FL; sisters, Nancy Burt of Summerville, SC, and Judy Pennebaker of Braselton, GA; as well as many nephews and nieces.

Dave attended schools in Butler, PA, moved to Clearwater, FL, with the family in 1963, graduated from Clearwater High School in 1965, then attended St Petersburg College.  While attending college, he worked for the Pinellas County Commission, meeting many state and community leaders. Even at that young age, he was respected and well regarded by those with whom he came to know.

Dave retired several years ago after a 46-year career with Mac Papers in Jacksonville. He began his career with Mac in Sarasota and was promoted to the Jacksonville headquarters in the mid-80s where he became regional vice-president. He was instrumental in the growth and prosperity of the company leading the effort in acquisitions and expansion.  He was often referred to as “the heart and soul of Mac Papers.”

He was an avid boatman, having bought and sold 24 boats of various types and sizes over his lifetime.  His first boat was a small used 16' craft he purchased at age 16 with funds he had borrowed. He was always at peace while on the water and shared those enjoyable experiences with so many others. Zoe, of course was first mate to Captain Dave.

Many people remember Dave's generosity and huge heart.  He did so many things for other people, often reaching out to lend a hand to assist friends or family.  Dozens of those who knew him have memorable stories of Dave being there for them when in need. He was indeed a friend to all!

A memorial service will be held for Dave on Saturday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home chapel - 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Brach, FL 32082, followed by a reception at 12:30 p.m., at Artisan Lakes Amenity Center - 384 Cobbler Trail, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32081. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Kidney Fund.
