David E. Mahoney, 71, died Saturday, August 3, 2024 at a peaceful Hospice Facility.  He was born on July 8, 1953 in Chicago, IL to David P. Mahoney and Mary Catherine (Barron) Mahoney.  He graduated from Griffin High School and then attended Western Illinois University.  He later graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor in Engineering – Electrical Engineering. Dave spent many years with Terumo as an engineer. He retired in 2019. Dave was an amazing wood worker, loved to joke around, would help a friend at a drop of a hat, played beautifully on his many guitars, and was eclectic in his love of music. He was an active member in the Knights of Columbus, and every liturgical season would be helping Kathy (Jurgens) Mahoney, his wife, with the seasons décor; using his wood working skills and engineering skills to make the church welcoming – most  notably was his creation of the Easter Cross.  Dave is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Jurgens) Mahoney and three children, Joseph (Katie) Harms, Chelsea MI, C. Winn (Justin) Nichols, Chelsea MI and Mary Mahoney, Edwardsville IL;  one granddaughter, Marzipan Harms;  two siblings Dennis  (Cindy) Mahoney, Chatham IL and Peggy Mahoney, Denver CO, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, and two sisters, Trish Milburn, Springfield IL and Maureen Barnes, Springfield IL. A Catholic Mass will be at 10:30am, Saturday, September 7, at St. Joseph the Worker, Catholic Church in Chatham IL with burial following at the Chatham Cemetery.  All are welcome to the Luncheon Celebration following burial.  Details will be shared at Mass.  Please RSVP to Kathy Mahoney or Dennis Mahoney if you are joining us for the Luncheon Celebration.
