Don Nichols, 99 years old, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 2, 2026. Born in Winfield, Kansas, Don touched the lives of many with his grace-giving warmth, abundant joy, and infectious love for the Lord and all of God's people. His boisterous laugh will echo in our hearts forever.

Don was a man of great intellect and dedication, graduating from St. Petersburg High and serving honorably in the Navy for two years. He pursued higher education at the University of Florida and Emory University, School of Theology, where he later became the Dean of Students and Admissions, serving with distinction for 30 years.

His career was marked by significant achievements, including becoming the youngest manager of Southern Bell in Key West. He also served as Assistant Pastor at First United Methodist in Jacksonville, Florida, and Pastor at Orange Park United Methodist. Even in retirement, Don's devotion to his faith led him to serve at Orange Park United Methodist Church and Cross Road Church. His commitment to service extended to his volunteer work with the Kairos Prison Ministry, where he dedicated 25 years.

Don was predeceased by his loving parents, Charles and Opal; his brother, Ron; and his grandson, Matthew. He is survived by his cherished wife of 38 years, Linda; his children, John (Nancy), Leslie (Frank), Chuck (Beth), and Erin (Matt); his grandchildren, Rory, Chris, Mandy, Shelly, Sarah, Josh, Ty, and Karina; his great-grandchildren, Haley, Emmaline, Shane, Walker, Pierce, Olivia, Caroline, Elizabeth, John Charles, William, Eason, and Leo; and his great-great-grandchild, Alister.

A visitation will be held at Village Church a World Golf Village on Friday, September 11, 2026 from 4-6 p.m. A celebration of Don’s life will be held on September 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The Village Church at World Golf Village, located at 4229 Pacetti Road, St. Augustine, Florida 32093. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Westminster St. Augustine Health Center for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Don's memory to The Village Church or Westminster St. Augustine Benevolent Fund.

Don's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and service. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
