Douglas A. Fields, 65, of Ponte Vedra, FL, peacefully passed away on July 9, 2020. The family will gather for a private burial in the Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082.

Doug was born June 30, 1955, in Cheverly, MD. He was the son of Robert and Dorothy. Doug enjoyed an early career with AutoTrain.  He then used his many skills in home construction and improvement in Maryland and Tallahassee, FL.  While in Tallahassee he enjoyed an occupation that was his passion, gardening, and landscaping. He worked many years at the premier Tallahassee Nurseries before retiring to Ponte Vedra, FL, in 2018. Doug was dynamic, kind, and courageous. He valued family and the many friendships made wherever he went. In retirement he loved riding his bike, going to the beach, exploring the area with dear family friends, and participating in many new activities including learning bid whist, bocce ball, euchre, and many other community activities.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy. He is survived by his loving wife, Lori; sisters, Audrey Moore and her husband, Mike, of Seabrook, MD, Peggy Metzbower and her husband, Frank, of Ocean City, MD; Robert Fields, Jr., of Homestead; his Aunt Patricia Fields in Maryland; and brother-in-law, Jess Byrd, Jr., and his wife Dana, of Ohio.  He was exceedingly proud of and loved his nephews and nieces, John (Jennifer), Dan, Kelly, Brian, Allison (Joshua), Jacob, Elizabeth, Seth; and many cousins, Duke, Tim, David, Karen, Laurie, Lynn, and Stacey. Throughout his lifetime he valued the beauty of nature and his favorite place to visit and see where every road would lead was in Glacier National Park.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Glacier National Park Conservancy https://glacier.org/donate-to-glacier/, P.O.
