Dylan Trent Gall, 33, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, in Atlantic Beach, Florida, after a brief illness.
Dylan was born in Jacksonville, Florida on June 27, 1991. He attended San Jose Episcopal Elementary School and The Bolles School, class of 2009. He went on to attend the University of South Florida, graduating in 2014 with a degree in Environmental Science. Dylan was an adventurous spirit and a born traveler. Before taking a job as a Customer Service Associate Sr. with FIS in Jacksonville, he spent years traveling around the world. From the long bungee jump off the Kawarau Bridge in New Zealand to trekking the Great Ocean Road in Australia, to exploring the wetlands and springs of his native Florida, Dylan was charmed by the magic he found in the natural world. His artistic sensibilities and thoughtful observations made for engaging conversation about the places he had been and the people he met along the way. His eyes would light up telling stories about riding a motorcycle in the rain in Bali, or how the fountains in small courtyards in Cadiz made life in the summer heat bearable. With his quiet demeanor, disarming smile, and open heart, he made lasting friends everywhere. He was the best of us, the boy that taught us how to enjoy the world. Dylan, a beacon of kindness and love, will be forever missed.
Dylan was preceded in death by his father, Doug Gall; grandmother, Ellen Gall; and grandfather, Arthur Smith (husband of Shirley Smith). Dylan is survived by his mother, Lisa Bell Atkinson; and stepfather, John Atkinson; sisters, Rebekah Drew Atkinson, Graysen Gall, Ellen Gall and Gabriella Gall; grandmother, Shirley Smith; grandfather, Charles F. I do not want the constellations any nearer,
I know they are very well where they are,
I know they suffice for those who belong to them...” from the Song of the Open Road, Walt Whitman
