Eddie W. Cranford

March 20, 1945 – November 24, 2016

Eddie W. Cranford, 71, passed away at Gainesville Florida VA Hospital on November 24, 2016, surrounded by his family after an extended illness.  Memorial services will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Midway Baptist Church at 2389 GA Highway 93 South, Cairo, GA, 39828 with Reverend Kenneth Cloud officiating.  Eddie and his wife, Christine, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 17, 2016.  They lived for 32 years off South Broad Street in Cairo, GA.  His passion, as many will remember, was putting up numerous Christmas decorations and playing Santa Clause to many children and adults.  Survivors include his wife, Christine, of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Cathy Cranford of Moultrie, GA; son, Steve Hudson of Thomasville, GA; and a brother, Roger Highsmith, of Atlanta, GA; and one aunt, Ethelene King of Wauchula, FL; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many cousins.  His son, Jackie Hudson, preceded him in death.  The family asks that instead of flowers, donations be made in Eddie’s memory to Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.  His ashes will be buried at a later date at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Cairo, GA.
