Edward Humbert Pereira, 87, of Saint Augustine, FL, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on July 9, 2025. Born to Humbert and Gwendoline Pereira on May 22, 1938, in Orange, NJ, Edward lived a full and impactful life, marked by his dedication to family, service to his country, and a passion for his career and hobbies.

At the age of nine, Edward moved to Evansville, IN, where he lived with family until graduation from college. Edward then proudly served in the United States Navy for ten years, where his commitment and bravery earned him several accolades, including the Bronze Star. After his military service, he transitioned to civilian life in San Diego, CA, where he embarked on a successful career in the Real Estate and Mortgage industry. Edward retired in 2004 and spent the next chapter of his life in Fairhope, AL, before ultimately settling in Saint Augustine, FL, in 2006.

Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Irene Pereira; his sons, Edward S. Pereira (Christen) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and Chad H. Pereira of Saint Augustine, FL; stepsons, Jeff S. Phillips (Amy) of Brent, AL, and David Phillips (Joy) of Quincy, IL; and his four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Pauline Nace of Dover, DE, and Dorothy Moore of Indialantic Beach, FL; and his stepson, Greg Phillips of Saint Augustine, FL.

A devoted family man, Edward cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. Whether it was gathering around for family events or simply enjoying a quiet day at home, his presence was a constant source of warmth and strength. His love for his family was only matched by his passion for college football, with a particular fondness for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Edward’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy of love, service, and dedication will endure in the memories of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

A private family service will be held later, after which his cremains will be distributed at sea with military honors by the U.S. Navy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a veterans' charity or cause of your choice in Edward’s honor.
