BAILEY Elliott Thomas (Tom) Bailey, 82, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 following a brief bout with cancer. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29 at Ponte Vedra Valley, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida 32082. Tom was born on June 10, 1933 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Pansy and Robert Bailey. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On October 27, 1956 he married Joyce L. Ellis. Tom was employed by Seaboard Airline Railroad and was transferred to Jacksonville Florida in 1967. He retired from CSX in 1992. Tom was a devoted man who cherished his family above all. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Tom enjoyed all sports and was an avid fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Alabama Crimson Tide. He enjoyed studying history and working in his yard. Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce, and his four children, Karen (Kevin) O'Neill, Marlene (Tom) Abbate, Elliott (Laurel) Bailey and Steven (Estefani) Bailey. His family also included eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Tom will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
