Ode to Emily by Margret Jacobsen, Emily’s Niece
No other lady could ever be
As special as dear Emily.
From daughter to wife to motherhood
Always doing the best she could.
Then on to Grandma, standing tall
Always sturdy, no wind could fall.
And when those kids had reproduced
Her status then was given a boost.
Now “GREAT” was added to “grandma” sweet
And then they surrounded her at her feet.
Indeed she is the oak tree staunch
From which the generations have been launched.
They’re the green leaves and acorns brown
Now nestled tightly in her crown.
She’s Mother Nature at her best
No season means that she’s at rest.
Summer, winter, autumn and spring
Emily still is “doing her thing!”
