With profound sadness and endless love, our family announces the passing of Enrique Hernández Aquino, who left this earth on November 14th. Born on November 25, 1942, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, he lived a life centered around his family.
For 58 years, he shared a devoted and enduring marriage with his wife, Nancy Hernández. Together, they built a family grounded in loyalty, strength, and unconditional love—values he lived every day and passed on to each of his children.
He was a devoted father to his children: Nancy Miller, Cindy James, Webner Hernández, and Edwin Hernández. He also cherished his sons- and daughters-in-law: Blake James, Tammy Hernández, and the late Kelly Hernández, who each held a special place in his heart.
One of his greatest joys was being a grandfather. He deeply loved Justin Miller (and wife Rebecca), Brandon Miller, Austin Hernández, Ashley Hernández and Joshua Becerra, and sharing moments that will forever warm their hearts. His life grew even sweeter when he became a great-grandfather to Mason Miller, who brought him tremendous joy.
A Vietnam Veteran and a 27-year Army Veteran, he embodied honor, discipline, and resilience. His military service shaped the strong-willed man he became—principled, protective, and steadfast. After retiring, he settled in Jacksonville, Florida, where he found comfort in family gatherings, quiet moments at home, and the steady routines he valued.
Though he kept much of his heart guarded, those closest to him knew his truest self: a man of strength, loyalty, and deep love. His presence was a constant—solid, dependable, and grounding. His passing leaves a space that can never be filled, but his lessons, love, and legacy live on in every one of us.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honor to the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) at https://vva.org/donate/?utm_source=main_donate.
He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
