Fatmir Ajdin Mecaj, vjec 75. Nderroi jete me 26 Shkurt, 2026. Lindi ne Janar te vitit 1951 ne Gjirokaster, SHQIPERI. Prej aty, familja u shperngul ne qytetin e Permetit, ku u rrit bashke me prinderit Ajdin the Hasime, motrat, Shqiponjen dhe Lirine, si dhe vellain, Ylli Mecaj. Mbasi mbaroi edukimin fillimisht ne Shkollen Ushtarake "Skenderbej" dhe me pas ne Shkollen e Larte te Aviacionit, filloi ushtrimin e profesionit si pilot ne Bazen Ajrore te Kucoves. Gjate fazes se punes ne Bazen Ajrore te Kucoves, u promovua ne graden Kolonel dhe gjate viteve 1992 -1996 ushtroi detyre si Komandant i Bazes. Ne vitin e trazirave politiko-shoqerore 1997, u shperngul me familjen ne SHBA dhe u vendos ne Jacksonville, Florida.  Aty vazhdoi te punonte me dedikimin dhe vullnetin e parreshtur qe gjithmone percaktoi karakterin e tij personal the profesional, derin ne momentin e fundit te jetes se tij.

Per familjen ai do te kujtohet gjithmone she nje bashkeshort i dedikuar, nje prind i mire dhe i kujdesur, dhe nje gjysh i dashur qe i dhuroi shume buzeqeshje e dashuri nipit dhe mbeses se tij. Per ata qe qe e njihnin, Fatmiri do te kujtohet si nje shok besnik, nje njeri me karakter te forte, bujar, me integritet dhe humor.  

Fatmiri le mbas bashkeshorten e tij te perkushtuar Esmeralda, dy djemte Besnik dhe Ermal per te cilet ishte nje shtylle sigurie dhe nje pike referimi per jeten, si dhe mbesen Yael, dhe nipin Daniel qe e donin jashtezakonisht shume.  Ai le gjithashtu mbas motrat Shqiponja dhe Liri, mbesat Lorena dhe Blerina, dhe nipin Arbri, bashke me femijet e tyre si edhe shume pjestare te tjere te familjes se tij dhe shume shoke, miq e kolege qe paten mundesine ta njihnin.

Kujtimi i Fatmirit do mbetet i paharruar ne zemrat tona dhe te gjithe atyre qe e donin dhe kaluan kohe me te gjate jetes se tij.

Sherbimet perkujtimore dhe varrimi do de kryen the shtunen me daten 7 Mars, 2026, ora 9:00 te Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home and onsite cemetery.

Fatmir Ajdin Mecaj, age 75, passed away on February 26, 2026. He was born in Gjirokaster, ALBANIA on January 3, 1951. After completing the military education, he went on to complete fighter pilot training at the Albanian Academy of Aviation. He then began a long career as a pilot in the Albanian Air Force where he reached the rank of Colonel and was promoted as Commander of the South Albanian Air Base at Kucove, from 1992 - 1996.  In the summer of 1997 he immigrated to Jacksonville, Florida with his family where he continued to work with the dedication and selflessness that exemplified his character until the end of his life.  Fatmir will be remembered as a devoted family man, a loyal friend and a person of strong character and kindness. Throughout life he valued family, hard work, and integrity.  He was always a pillar of support for his family and friends. Those who knew him will remember his quiet wisdom, his generosity, and the quiet strength he showed in caring for the people around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife Esmeralda, children Besnik and Ermal and grandchildren Yael and Daniel, who will continue to honor his memory and carry forward the values he lived by. He also leaves behind many extended family members members and friends who were blessed to know him.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the many lives he touched throughout his life.

Funeral services will be held with family and friends gathering to honor and remember his life. The family appreciates the support, prayers, and kindness shown during this difficult time.
