Frank Morris McComas passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2023.  He was born January 6, 1946, in East Liverpool, Ohio and was the son of Ruby and Gazel McComas.  He was an outstanding athlete in middle school and high school and a proud “Potter” in football, basketball, baseball and track.

Frank earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Kent State University, an Honorary Doctorate from University of South Carolina and completed an International Corporate Executives program at Harvard.  He retired in 2002 as the Chief Operating Officer of Knight Ridder Newspapers and continued his other real estate and business ventures in retirement.  Frank was a lifelong learner and adventurer who loved life.

At Kent, Frank met his love and future bride, Margie Rust, who survives.  They went on to grow a wonderful family with son Andy, who preceded Frank in death, and daughter Katy and daughter-in-law Cynthia.  Frank was a doting “Pops” to his two “Grand Girls”, Clara and Charlotte.

Frank is also survived by his two sisters, Dr. Lou Marie Carey and her husband Dr. Jim Carey of Ponte Vedra Beach and Dr. Mona Jensen of St. Augustine.  He dearly loved his nephew Derek Prince and wife Sharon and their two sons Austin and Jason, and his niece Karen Dick and her husband Greg and her daughter Lauren Campisi.

Frank will be remembered lovingly by his family, friends and the many people whose lives he touched in a positive way.

A celebration of Life will be held at The Plantation of Ponte Vedra’s Beach House at sunrise on March 1, 2023.
