Generoso (Gene) Vergara Baroso, 77, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on February 4, 2022.  He was born on May 18, 1944, in Zapote, Las Pinas, Philippines.

He honorably served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1989.  During that time, he served on the USS Saratoga (CV60) on its bicentennial cruise January 1976, and its Mediterranean Cruises in 1977 and 1978.  He also served on the USS Yosemite (AD19) on its Indian Ocean Deployment September 1983.

He was awarded Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Battle "E" ribbon, M14 Rifle Marksman, Fifth Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Service Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendations. After his retirement, he continued his career of service through the US Postal service for 16 years.  He took great pride in his service to his country and viewed it as one of his greatest privileges.

Gene was a devoted husband to wife Evelyn of 52 years and loving father to Glady (Rodney), Genevie (John), Gary, and Genelyn (Victor).  He delighted in his role as grandfather to Reagan Huynh, Bailey, Camryn and Dylan Odvina and Everly Santos.  He was predeceased by his parents Bernardo and Marciana Baroso.

Gene will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his distinct sense of humor, love of the Golden State Warriors, and his quick thinking when playing mahjong and UNO.
