CLUTE George Eugene Clute, 81, died May 10, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Anne MacMillan Clute of Jacksonville; son, Greg and daughter-in-law, Kathy Clute of Concord, MA; daughter, Carolyn Clute and son-in-law, Thomas Pettersson of San Francisco; and granddaughter, Madeleine Clute of New York. George was born in Monroe, Michigan, the only son of George and Edna Clute. George graduated with his BSME in 1956 from Michigan State University, where he and Anne met, and went on to work for Hamilton Standard/United Technologies in Windsor Locks, CT, for 38 years. He earned his MBA from the University of Hartford in the early 1980s. In 1992, he and Anne relocated to Roswell, GA, with Hamilton Standard and remained in the area upon George's retirement. A move to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, in 2002, close to the ocean and the golf community of TPC, gave George many opportunities to volunteer and serve on various boards. Family was first and foremost - everything he did was for them. He also loved travel, skiing, and golf. His ready smile and quick wit endeared him to many. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 24 at 4 p.m. at The Players Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, where he served for many years as a storyteller and marshal for The Players Championship. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Storyteller STAC fund, Tournament Players Club, 110 TPC Boulevard, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082. Funds are distributed to selected charities.
