Gertrude Cresap Malbis passed away at the age of 90 on August 22, 2023.  She was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, to Edward and Mary Cresap, but spent her early years in the cities of Jackson and Athens, Alabama.  Gertrude lived most of her life in Malbis, Alabama, and for the last few years lived near her daughter in Neptune Beach, Florida.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George Malbis, and by her children Mark, Pam, and Nafseka.  

Gertrude is survived by her daughter Helen (Bill) Hendrich of Neptune Beach, Florida, and her three beloved grandchildren; Helen Ann (Jason) Dabney of Bay Minette, Alabama, Philip Hendrich of Hermosa Beach, California, and Jennifer Hendrich of Jacksonville, Florida.  She leaves behind four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  

Her sweet and spontaneous laugh, love of crossword puzzles, and the joy she got from reading mystery novels will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private family service will occur at the Malbis Memorial Cemetery.
