Glenda Faye Peters, surrounded by her family, went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 20, 2022, following a brief illness at the age of 82. Glenda was born in Dothan, AL, on September 20, 1939, to her father, Willard Farmer, and mother, Florene Ready.  Glenda was raised in Jacksonville, FL, by her mother and stepfather, Clinton Peacock.

Glenda moved to Jacksonville and graduated from Andrew Jackson High school in 1957. Upon graduation she married Glenn Nehrling, and they had three children, Mike Patti, and Richard. Glenn worked for JEA and Glenda had various jobs then retired from the IRS in 1995.

In 1980 she married the love of her life, Lee Franklin Peters (Pete) in Arlington TX.  Pete, a Navy Master Chief and Glenda traveled the world together and lived in Puerto Rico and Spain during Pete’s second career.  Some of Glenda’s favorite memories were trips to Germany, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, England, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Bosnia–Herzegovina, Greece and Andora.

Her greatest joys were her faith, family and friends.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, as a mom and grandmother she spent countless hours cheering on her kids and grandkids at baseball, soccer, football and lacrosse fields.

She loved to dance, sing, play games and in general have fun.  She learned to play poker at an early age and could hold her own at the table with the best of them. She loved entertaining and hosted many family, church and social gatherings over the years at her home in Jacksonville.

Glenda believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and loved her church and church family.  She believed in the power of prayer and prayed daily for her family and friends and those in need.

She is preceded in death by her grandson, Duane Nehrling.

She is survived by her husband, Lee F. Peters; son, Michael Nehrling; daughter, Patti Armstrong (Dan); son, Richard Nehrling (Michelle); grandchildren, Tara Dunham (Alex), Alexander Martin, Christian Nehrling, Nicholas Nehrling; and great-grandchildren, Dylan and Owynn.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Ocean Park Baptist Church, 400 16th Ave S., Jacksonville Beach, FL, 32250. Pastor Chris Partyka will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Tim Tebow Foundation.
