Gregory Richard Hickson, 35, of Jacksonville, FL, the son of Ron and Louise Hickson of Spotsylvania, VA passed away peacefully Thursday, June 7th due to Type 1 Diabetes complications.

He grew up in Cazenovia, NY where he graduated from Christian Brothers Academy High School in Syracuse, NY.  He received an athletic scholarship and graduated from Gettysburg College receiving a bachelor’s degree in Business.

Greg loved many sports and was a talented athlete playing football and lacrosse during high school and lacrosse at Gettysburg.  He loved fishing and taking long walks and runs on various beaches.  Anyone who knew Greg loved him for his sense of humor and being a team player and friend.

But Greg’s happiest times were those spent with his family.  He was truly devoted to his family and loved life.  He worked in sales and marketing for the hospitality industry for several establishments in the Jacksonville, FL area.

In addition to his mother and father, survivors include his brothers, Karl Hickson (wife Dorie) and their two sons, Fairfax, VA, and Joseph Hickson of Honolulu, HI and sister, Laura Chatten (husband Jamie) and their three daughters, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Greg will be deeply missed by all who knew him for his adventurous and free-loving personality.

Private family services were held for Greg in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and a private funeral mass was held at St Patrick Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, VA with family members on June 18th.
