Harry Wayne Whittaker, Sr., 82, passed away at his home on December 23, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Harry was born June 26, 1942, in Grand Haven, Michigan. He attended North Muskegon High School and Jacksonville University. Harry enlisted in the Army National Guard of Florida where he served for six years. During that time, he earned his Master Electrician’s Certificate from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Trade School. He went onto become a Project Estimator/Manager and President of Grand American Electric Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He later worked for Batson-Cook Construction Company in Jacksonville, Florida.
A devoted husband and father, Harry was an avid outdoorsman who loved to go boating, fishing, hunting and camping with his family. He was also a very good cook and grill master, and he made an awesome Key Lime pie. Harry enjoyed golfing and bowling and traveling all over the United States and World.
Harry served on various committees at Second Congregational Church and The Dean Lake Association and was a member of the Elks Club in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was also President of the Vista Del Mar Homeowner’s Association in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
Harry is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Margie, his wonderful children Lisa (Jay), Wayne and Troy (Marianne), 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Margie (Richard), Susan (Dan) and Lisa, and many other loving family members, including Shirley, Hazel, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his mother Dorothy and father Stanley, grandmother Daisy and brother Craig.
He will be interned at Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home in Ponte Vedra, Florida.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
