Huguette Jeanne Kirkpatrick (nee Martin) passed away on October 12, 2022, in Lawrenceville, GA.  She was born to Auguste Martin and Helene Bernaudon on April 23, 1925, in Marseille, France.

Huguette was hired as an interpreter for the U.S. Army when it arrived in Marseille in 1944. There she met and married James (Jim) H. Kirkpatrick on April 28, 1945.  She travelled with other War Brides to the U.S. in 1946. The young couple lived first in New York having three children.  In 1955, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida and settled in St. Augustine in 1961.

While living in St. Augustine, Huguette and Jim were active in many organizations such as the Navy League, the Officers’ Club, the Women’s Club, Cathedral Parish, the Elks.  Huguette enjoyed working retail in the restored area of St. George Street.  After she retired, she was a long-time volunteer at the Lightner Museum.

In 2015, Huguette moved from Davis Shores to Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett.  The family is very grateful to the administration, staff and residents of Delmar for showing such loving support and care for her.  Her long-time care giver, Kemi Williams, was especially supportive of Huguette and showed such great compassion for her.

Huguette is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Jim Kirkpatrick and her son in law, Tom Larrison. She is survived by their children, Helene Kirkpatrick (Pat Mayhew), Jim Kirkpatrick (Selena), Ann Larrison; 5 grandchildren Sean Kirkpatrick, Allison Kirkpatrick (Charles Tripler), Justin Larrison (Carrie), Travis Larrison (Becky), Brady Larrison and 13 great grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, October 21, 2022, 1:00 pm, Graveside at San Lorenzo Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Huguette’s name be made to The Salvation Army, The Donna Foundation (Huguette was a cancer survivor), or the Humane Society.
