In loving memory of Inga Ingeborg Langsam, age 87, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Inga passed away on April 26, 2022, due to complications caused by ALS, one year and one month after the death of her beloved husband, Harvey. Inga was the sensitive, stylish, and a strong driving force in her family. She was a loving and dedicated daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Inga was born on February 25, 1935, in Vienna, Austria. When she was four (4), following the annexation of Austria by the Nazis, she and her parents fled to Poland, and then to London, England. In November 1940, Inga and her mother arrived in the US and ultimately settled in Brooklyn, NY. They shared an apartment and their day to day lives with their cousins, Olga and Adolph Schenker, and their children, Henry and Eric. The three children born in Austria formed a strong bond that would last a lifetime.
Inga always had an exceptionally strong work ethic and a flair for fashion. She helped her parents in their clothing store almost every day after school. She studied Retail Merchandising at the City College of NY. And after graduation went to work at Gimbels as an assistant buyer. It was there that she met the love of her life, Harvey, on January 2nd. They were engaged less than 6 weeks later, on Valentine’s Day. Their fairytale romance and marriage traversed New York and Massachusetts.
Inga played an integral role in the lives and work of her family. She was the heart of their household, cared for her ailing mother, and helped her husband establish and run his media company, VCTS, which spanned 20 years.
After retirement Inga and Harvey traveled, moved to Cape Cod, MA, and then to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Inga loved to converse with, and connect with others, and to delight those she loved with thoughtful, lasting gifts. She was known for her kind heart, passion for gardening, conversation, and spending time with her family.
Inga is survived by her daughter, Ariann Langsam (Steven Magiera); grandchildren, Michael, Lindy, and Marshall Magiera.
Funeral services will be held at 3PM on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Inga’s name to The ALS Association.
The funeral will be livestreamed directly below this obituary beginning approximately ten minutes before the start of the service.
