MCMURRY James Everett McMurry, (Jim, Mac), 85, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on October 6, 2015, in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at Ponte Vedra Valley, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, on October 28, 2015, at 1:00 p.m., with Michael Campbell of Northeast Florida Community Hospice, officiating. Friends are welcomed at the home of his son, Jim McMurry, Jr., 309 Lauden Ct., Ponte Vedra Beach, following the service. Jim was born in Jacksonville, FL, to Willis A. and Margaret McMurry on November 12, 1929. He went to high school at Andrew Jackson and graduated in 1948. Jim was a track star while at Andrew Jackson. He served two years in the Army before he began working for the Seaboard Airline Railroad, later known as CSX. He retired in 1988 after 41 years. He spent many years as a youth baseball coach and later he enjoyed umpiring both baseball and softball. He was involved in the Arlington Lions Club for many years. Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, JoAnn; his daughter, Diane Carson (David), Nashville, TN; son, James McMurry, Jr (Margie), Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; daughter, Patti Tingley (Victor), Las Vegas, NV; his brother, Willis McMurry, Jr.; five grandchildren, Earl Wilkes (Michelle), Justin Wilkes (Laura), Ryan McMurry (Jessica), Jennifer McMurry, and Kelli McMurry; two great-grandchildren, Mya Wilkes and Everett McMurry; and his niece, Pam Anderson (John).
