On Saturday, March 7, 2020, Janet Koegler, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, a loving wife, mother, and sister, succumbed to cancer after a yearlong bout, at the age of 66. Janet was surrounded by her family as she passed. Described as a big personality, she was a generous friend with a fun-loving spirit, possessing deep sensitivity.  She will be missed by all that knew her.

Born to Alfred and Pauline Di Matteo on January 7, 1954, in Highland Park, MI, Janet graduated from Southfield Lathrup High School and attended Eastern Michigan University—although she was a Michigan Wolverine fan for life. A real talent in art and fashion with noticeable magnetism, Janet worked as a receptionist in a Southfield, MI, law firm and then worked in the advertising industry.  She married Harold in 1984 in Marin County, CA, culminating a multiyear long-distance courtship.  Janet’s greatest joys were her two children, Andrea and Elliott, and the home she made for her family.  The family lived in California until 1997, and then moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

Janet is survived by her son, Elliott Koegler, Denver, CO; her daughter and best friend, Andrea Koegler, Jacksonville Beach, FL; husband, Harold, Jacksonville, FL; and sisters, Joyce Sofy, Elaine Saulk, and Marleen Di Matteo.

A graveside service and burial will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, 10:00 am, at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery and Funeral Home, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Johns County, FL, 32082.  Rabbi Mona Decker presiding.

Memorial donations in memory of Janet may be made to the NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR CANCER RESEARCH, 5515 Security Lane, Suite 110, Rockville, MD 20852 or through their website at secure.nfcr.org/page/contribute/main-donation.
