Jerome Irwin Rock, (Jerry/Papa/Pops) 88, was called home to Jesus on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. His wonderful life will be remembered by his beautiful and loving wife, Miriam, his children: Robin Rock Lucas, Kimberly Adams Hogle. He was predeceased by daughter, Karen Adams. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher Ketchledge (Vanessa Hertz), Ashley Zydzik (Tyler), Brendan Hogle, Katie Lucas and Jack Lucas.  Before being called into heaven, he was surrounded by his family, friends and his pastors from Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church, where he was an active member and loved to worship and pray.

Jerry was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 4th, 1928, to Ethel and Louis Rock. He attended and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in 1946. He completed his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College in 1950 and received his Doctorate in Dentistry from New York University in 1955. After serving for two years as a Captain in the United States Army, he sought and received a much coveted license to practice in the island of Jamaica in Montego Bay. After four very interesting years, he settled in Northern Virginia and opened a dental practice in Falls Church, Virginia. Throughout his 46 years of practice, he had offices in Falls Church, Alexandria, Great Falls and Middleburg, Virginia, where he and his family lived until his retirement. He was a member of the Virginia Dental Society and various other organizations and clubs. A fan of many sports, he particularly enjoyed playing tennis and golf. An avid reader, he had a wealth of information to impart to others. He will be remembered for his love of his Lord Jesus Christ his wife, his family, his wisdom, kindness, patience and his stunning sense of humor which brought smiles and laughter to many.
