Joan Marie Romano, 61, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, passed away November 21, 2019. She was born October 18, 1958, in Havre de Grace, MD, to Raymond and Freddie Haney. Joan grew up in Aberdeen, MD, and worked for 20 years in the jewelry industry before returning to college, first at Montgomery College and ultimately graduating from Marymount University. In 1988, Joan married Chris Romano. They lived in Washington, DC, until moving to Florida in 2004. In November of 2002, Chis and Joan became parents to twin girls, Jane (Janie) and Julia Sue (Suzie); they were the light of her life. Joan was a very active volunteer and member of Jacksonville Parents of Twins and Triplets (Jackpot), First Coast Families of Children from China (First Coast FCC), and supported the Ponte Vedra High School sports teams. Most recently she began to volunteer and work with patients through various local hospice organizations and became a certified End of Life Doula through The International End of Life Doula Association (INELDA).
Joan is survived and will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Chris; cherished daughters, Jane (Janie) and Julia Sue (Suzie); siblings, Ray (Waverly), Frieda, Liz (Frank), Peter, Paul (Nancy), Peggy, Laura, Julie, and Ned; dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and loved ones.
The Romano family will be receiving family and friends on Sunday, December 8, 2019, from 2-4 pm, at Ponte Vedra Valley.
