Joanne Matejov Schwar, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023, in Florida where she had recently relocated with her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Schwar.  The majority of her life was spent in New York where she was born and raised.  She was a beautiful, strong, brave, and perpetually optimistic woman who loved life and those around her with her entire soul.

Joanne adored gardening and created a beautiful patio overlooking their pond, where she cherished watching the gorgeous sunrises at their new home in Saint Johns, Florida. She loved to bake and dopuzzles with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Bob, her daughter and son-in-law Stacey & Daniel McGrath, Son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Sheri Schwar, Son and daughter-in-law James & Ashley Schwar and her daughter Kristy Schwar.  Some of her greatest blessings were of her grandchildren:  Sean, Montana, Katie, James (JJ), Alex and her great grandchildren, Charlotte (Pip) & Hudson.  Lastly, her beloved dog Ollie who misses her dearly.

On Friday, October 27, 2023, Deacon Lawrence Geinosky of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church will preside over a small service at Ponte Vedra Valley for family and friends.  For those unable to attend in person, this service will be livestreamed beginning at 10 AM. The livestream will be available directly below this obituary approximately ten minutes before the start of the service.
