It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John A. Bracco, Jr.  of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, on January 5, 2024. Residing in the community since 1992, John was a beloved presence at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club gym, relishing in socializing and forming new friendships. His warm smile, sense of humor, laugh, love of animals, and extensive knowledge of music, sports, science, and history left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

John was born in Port Chester, New York, on December 13, 1942. He graduated from Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts, with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He further pursued his education at Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, earning a Master's Degree in Administration. It was at Curry College where he met his wife, Susu, and together they shared 57 years of marriage. They eventually settled in Westchester, New York, where they raised two daughters in the quaint town of North Salem.

John was a beloved educator, contributing to the communities of Lakeland, New York, and Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. During his leisure time, he found joy in playing tennis and golf at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club and engaging in light workouts at the gym (mostly for socializing and enjoying coffee). His passion for music was evident through his love for playing the guitar and singing. A dedicated fan of The New York Jets, he never missed a game and cherished the camaraderie of his local Jets fan group.

His greatest passion was undoubtedly his family. As the eldest among 18 first cousins, John loved family gatherings. Whether watching football together, playing the guitar and singing, repeating the same jokes or savoring extensive Italian meals, family remained at the center of his heart. John took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, never missing an activity or sporting event and serving as their most enthusiastic cheerleader in life. He is preceded in death by his parents, John A. Sr. and Mary (Stracuzzi); and his sister, Beverly Barbaro. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Owens); their daughters, Lynn Heuschkel (David) and Kimberly Duncan (Stephen); grandchildren, Thomas DeFilippis, Brooke DeFilippis, Jack Heuschkel, Kathleen Duncan, James Duncan; and multitude of cherished cousins, extended family and dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
