John G. Shea, Esquire, 93, formally of Villanova, PA, and Water Island, US Virgin Islands, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on February 5, 2024.

He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis M. Shea and four devoted children: Nancy S. Larkin (John), John M. Shea, William P Shea, and Diana S. Edwards (Bruce) and his 13 grandchildren. He is  predeceased by his parents and five siblings, all of Rochester, New York,

A graduate of Saint Bernard's Seminary and College in Rochester New York, he then attended Cornell Law school where he met his future wife and law partner. John and Phyllis were members of the class of 1956 and remained married for 67 years. John was a member of Phi Delta Phi, Order of the COIF, and Board of Editors Cornell Law Quarterly. After graduating, he served as trial counsel in the Judge Advocate, General Corp in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He was admitted to practice in numerous courts, including the US Supreme Court.  He was a member of the Pennsylvania, New York and US Virgin Islands Bar Associations. He and Phyllis founded Shea and Shea Law Office, Bryn Mawr, PA in 1972.

Outside of his professional life, John served on numerous boards as a Director and Officer. He was a member of Overbrook Golf Club since 1968 and gladly served as Secretary for the club.

John was a true gentleman lawyer, who provided advice and counsel that was exceptional and delivered in a caring and respectful manner.

A Funeral Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida will be held February 10, 2024 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations via check, can be mailed in memoriam of a long-standing Board Member, John G. Shea, to Henry A. Quinn Charitable Foundation, 100 Chetwynd Drive, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010.
