NUZZO Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com John Gennaro Nuzzo, 93, beloved by many family and friends, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2014. He was born on a farm in Staten Island, NY, on June 18, 1921 to Andrew and Antonetta Nuzzo. He graduated from Curtis High School and The Mechanics Institute of NYC. After serving in the Coast Guard during WWII, he met and married Helen Ehrhorn. They celebrated 52 years together until her passing in 2001. As a young man, he rode his horse all around the many unpopulated streets of S.I. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle not only for pleasure, but also for commuting to his job with the NYC Dept. of Water and Sewer. John and his wife enjoyed working in their garden, traveling, and attending Masonic and Eastern Star meetings and events. He was a member of Great Kills Masonic Lodge #912 for 60 years, and was a past Master. John always enjoyed spending summers fishing and boating with his family at his log cabin in Smallwood, NY, and telling of his experience at the 1969 Woodstock Festival. John has lived with his daughter, June, and her family in Ponte Vedra Beach for the past six years. During this time, he enjoyed attending PV United Methodist Church, The Players Community Senior Center, and his grandchildren's sporting events. Everyone who met him will miss his big smile, stories, and jokes. He had a special gift to make people laugh and be happy. A man tells his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him. And in that way he becomes immortal. He will greatly missed by his two daughters, Barbara Nuzzo and June (Jeff) Koch; sister, Carol DiMaggio; brother, Andrew (Joanne) Nuzzo Jr.; and grandchildren, Michael Grossman, Matthew, Jamie, Jeffrey and Alfred Koch. Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, June 28, 2014 at PV United Methodist Church, 76 S. Roscoe Blvd, PVB, with interment to follow at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's memory to PV United Methodist Church or The Players Community Senior Center at Ponte Vedra Beach.
