O DONNELL John Gerald O'Donnell, Jack (87) of Plymouth Meeting, PA, and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, died Wed., Sept. 23rd at his home in Pone Vedra Beach, caused by the complications of Norma Pressure Hydrocephalus. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and was the youngest of three children born to Catherine Conlon O'Donnell and Paul Regis O'Donnell. Orphaned at the age of five, he lived for several years with his brother, Paul Regis O'Donnell, and their dear Uncle Gerald Vincent O'Donnell. Jack relocated to Canton, OH, where he lived with various relatives including his sister, Lois O'Donnell Chenot. He graduated from Lehman High School of Canton, OH. Jack entered the United States Navy serving in WWII aboard the USS Pasadena. He returned to Canton, OH, and at the benefit of the GI Bill, received his Bachelors of Business Administration Degree from Kent State University. He joined Diebold Inc. where he held various sales & executive positions for 42 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marjorie Ann Wheeler O'Donnell; his son, Michael Paul O'Donnell, and his wife, Deane (Ponte Vedra, FL); his son, Timothy Wheeler O'Donnell, and his wife, Margaret (Colorado Springs, CO); his daughter, Patricia Ann O'Donnell Linus, and her husband, Jim (Bonita Springs, FL). Jack joined Cedarbrook Country Club of Blue Bell in the early 1960's, where he remained a member until his death. He had a regular & active golf game with his now deceased close friends, Peter D. Carlino, Joseph Farrell, Bud Sykes, Dr. John Poole. He was a member of the Philadelphia Rotary Club, Wings Aviation and an active supporter of the former Germantown Hospital. Jack was a previous parishioner of Epiphany Of Our Lord church in Plymouth Meeting, PA, and an active member of Our Lady Star Of the Sea. Jack and his wife relocated to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, to be closer to their children & grandchildren, John Jake Gerald Linus, James Jimmy Patrick Linus, John Jack Gerald O'Donnell II, Catherine Spencer O'Donnell, Jacque Wheeler O'Donnell, Tarrah Wheeler O'Donnell and Kelly Ann O'Donnell; all of whom he loved dearly and made him proud. He was lovingly known to all of his grandchildren as Pop. Mr. O'Donnell became an active participant in activities at Sawgrass Country Club & the Palm Valley American Legion, along with spending numerous hours with his close friend, George Lindsay. He will miss his visits to Palm Beach with his dear friends, Fred and Terry Scott. Jack expressed his great appreciation to his doctors at the Mayo Clinic in particular Dr. Jerry Sayer and local physician Dr. Gerald Budd, who for 15 years provided superior health care. He greatly appreciated the continuous attention and care that his daughter-in-law, Deane Jonas O'Donnell provided, the help from Vitas Hospice & his personal care givers, Maryna, Glenna and Betty, who where there for him in his final months/days of his life. He was fortunate to celebrate with his wife, Marjorie, their 64th wedding Anniversary on the 25th of August this year. He passed away peacefully with his children, his daughter-in-law Deane & wife at his side. He has various nieces & nephews in Jacksonville, FL, Canton, OH, and Cleveland, OH, of which he loved dearly. His son, Michael, is the current Chairman and CEO of Ruth's Chris Steak House and when asked, described his father as A Man of Great Faith & Principle a Great Dad & Husband. If he was your friend you knew it!! Our family will miss his Love & Leadership, but he taught us all well! Services to be held at 11 am on Sept. 28th, 2015, at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 545 A1A North, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082.
