John W. Robinson, 88, passed away on February 21, 2025.

John was born and raised in Yonkers, New York.  His loving parents dreamed big, giving their only child opportunities greater than their own.  They sacrificed, allowing John to obtain a 4-year college degree.  From his early years, John valued his faith, family and friendships.

After college, John landed his first job.  There, he joined a committee that organized local social events (a skill that did not seem to fade) and this is where he met Marilyn.  After secretly dating, John and “Lyn” were married.  Then, John accepted an assignment in Southeast Asia.  After 7 years, John and Lyn returned to the United States and settled in Tennessee.  For 41 years, John was a manager / business owner and served his local community.  In retirement, John and Lyn moved to Ponte Vedra, Florida, and then Jacksonville to enjoy the ocean and weather.  John lovingly and loyally cared for Lyn, especially in her later years.

One of John’s passions was traveling.  John enjoyed learning the history of each locale, including the traditions of the people of various countries and cultures in the four corners of the world.  Another one of John’s pleasures was ballroom dancing.  His global adventures on ships or dance floors provided John with numerous friendships that were supported by volumes of fond memories.

John was known to light up any room with his warmth, charm, and sense of humor.  He could sing most songs, was on-time for happy hour and rumor had it… a vodka martini was never safe in his presence.  No one was a stranger to John – he instantly engaged anyone he met with consistent kindness and attention.  The trademark twinkle in his eyes, gentle (slightly mischievous) smile and infectious laugh elevated cheer during each gathering or celebration.

John embraced each day with positivity, finding the good in any situation.  His faith, love of family and friends were his oxygen.  They provided him with guidance, support, encouragement and love.  John wanted each person to know how grateful he was for all of God’s blessings!!!

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m., Saturday March 15th at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 523 Pablo Ave., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to a charity of your choice.
