Judith A Cantwell, 82, died Thursday, November 8, 2023 at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on April 1, 1941 in Boston, MA to James and Mary (Glynn) Cantwell.
Judith graduated high school from Our Lady of the Presentation Academy. She then attended Emmanuel College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts. Judith took her final vows as a nun with the Order of Sisters of Notre Dame. While serving as a nun and teaching high school in Boston, she earned a Master of Science for Teachers in Biology from University of New Hampshire. Judith was a Nun for 17 years. She served as a teacher for 50 years in Massachusetts, California, and Alabama. Judith enjoyed working with her students. In addition, she worked at King Cotton in Birmingham, AL for 25 years. In her spare time, Judith enjoyed quilting and sewing.
Judith is survived by 1 niece and 6 nephews; Judy DiBattisto, Jacksonville Beach; Gerald F. Horton, Winter Park, FL; James Horton, Pavones, Costa Rica; Bob Horton, Parker, CO; John Horton, Jacksonville, FL; Ken Horton, Newnan, GA; Tim Horton, Jacksonville, FL; along with 10 grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Horton; her brother, James Cantwell; and her nephew, Edward Horton.
