Karen Virginia Mele, 79, was called home to the Lord on May 8, 2025. She was born on May 18, 1945 to John and Dolores Balow in Chicago, IL. Karen was an Interior Designer who found her true calling in Christian Discipling. She was a faithful member of Christ Church and former president of Gideons Women’s Auxiliary, South Jacksonville, FL. Karen was an active member of Bible Study Fellowship for over 35 years. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Mele; son, Craig Mele and his wife, Gina (Gorman); grandsons, Bradley, Caleb, and Aaron Mele; brothers, John and George Balow; sister, Jan Balow. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 12:00pm (noon) on Friday, May 16 at Ponte Vedra Valley. A funeral and committal service will be held following the visitation starting at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers the family asked donations by made to the Bible Study Fellowship and Gideons International.
