Laurie Lee Hughes Rainey passed away peacefully at the age of 65 on August 23, 2023, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. She was born on September 5, 1957 in Albany, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Robert Whaley and Shirley Justice Hughes. She was also preceded in death by her son, Clint Rainey and brother, Michael Hughes.
Laurie is survived by her husband Donny Rainey; her daughter Jenifer Rainey (Jared) Policastro; their children Sophie, Evan, Lena, and James Policastro; her sister Leslie (Dan) Parham, her brothers, Robby (Elizabeth) Hughes, Payne Hughes, and Allen (Teresa) Hughes and many nieces and nephews.
Laurie Rainey lived Life with a capital L! You couldn’t be in Laurie’s presence for long without realizing that you were in the company of a woman who was full of life and enjoyed every moment. Laurie had amazing energy that she poured into whatever held her attention at that moment. She was a very successful entrepreneur not only because of her keen mind and tireless work ethic, but also because she knew how to connect with and love people.
Rest in peace, dear Laurie. Your spirit will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice Society or Humane Society.
