Loretta Hunady Borges, 81, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on April 6, 2025. Born on March 10, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Hunady and late Frances (Fabis) Hunady. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1961. In 1965, Loretta moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where she lived until 1997 when she moved to Jacksonville, Florida, to be closer to family and as Loretta said, “to be where there are palm trees”. After retirement in 2014 from Atria Senior Living in Jacksonville, FL where she was Community Business Director, Loretta enjoyed crafting, traveling, decorating and shopping for additions to her various collections, and most of all spending time with family.
Loretta is survived by her daughter, Marie Guzik McAuley (Joseph), Thomasville, GA, and her siblings, Patricia (Hunady) Aftoora (Albert), Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Dwight Hunady (Katherine), Grand Blanc, MI; aunt and great-aunt to numerous nieces and nephews; cousins and extended family. Loretta will be dearly missed by all her family and friends and remembered fondly for her friendly and sweet manner and smile and loved by all who met her.
On Friday, May 16, 2025, there will be a mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 545 A1A N, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082, at 11 a.m. An interment service will be held at a later date at the Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082.
