Malinda Ann Cotter, 88, died Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the Starling senior living facility in Nocatee, FL. She was born on April 14, 1936 in Miami, FL to John and Mary (Hood) Dubose.
Malinda graduated from Coral Gables High School in 1954 and then from the Nursing Program at Florida State University in 1958. After receiving a master’s degree in nursing from the University of San Francisco, she went on to join the Peace Corps in 1961. She was stationed in St. Lucia W.I., when she met Francis Patrick Cotter, who was inspecting Peace Corp facilities for the State Department. On April 17th, 1965, they were married in Miami and she joined Frank in Washington, D.C. She worked for the Montgomery County Health Department and The Columbia Hospital for Women.
In 1992, she retired, living with Frank in the Ponte Vedra area, most notably, the Sawgrass Country Club. In her spare time, Malinda enjoyed sailing, cruises, tennis, travel, and playing bridge. Malinda is survived by one son, Patrick F. Cotter, St. Petersburg FL; four stepchildren: Dr. Frank Cotter, Roanoke, VA., Catherine (Cotter) Noon, Mary Alice (Cotter) Rabin, Annapolis, MD, and Dr. John Patrick Cotter, Greenville, SC. She was also a grandmother “Granny” and great grandmother to thirteen.
A service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 3, at Ponte Vedra Valley funeral home with interment at its adjacent cemetery. Malinda will be buried next to Frank, her loving husband of 51 years (deceased 2016).
